Day 44. Evening. Whitehorse, YT

We’re at a private campground about 10 miles short of Whitehorse for the next 2 nights. There’s a laundry here and good wifi and a reasonable price. It’s 5 PM and we’re heading into town shortly to see if the Yukon Brewing Company knows how to brew a decent IPA. After that, we’ll dine at a Chinese restaurant, and maybe stroll along the Yukon River and see the SS Klondike, a sternwheeler that plied the Yukon twixt Whitehorse and Dawson City in the 30s and 40s.

It rained off and on today and will do the same tomorrow, only more so, so no golfing in the Yukon. Trish plans to do some store browsing tomorrow and I’m going to do some RV maintenance stuff, try to seal up some of the dust access routes.

Nary a critter was seen in today’s drive but it is Sunday and critters need a day of rest, too. The road construction workers were also missing from the scene, although they weren’t missed all that much. Our commute from Watson Lake to here was considerably quicker due to their absence. We did see a helicopter flying just above the trees and it had a large round net suspended from it. We speculate that it might have been called in to drop the net on a problem griz – or a problem moose – or a problem Yukonian.

Later. We had a great dinner with enough take-home for another. Turns out Yukon Brewing is just a commercial brewing operation, sans pub, so I had to settle for a Yukon Gold Pale Ale at the Chinese restaurant.
