Day 34. Morning. Edmonton

We did the famous Edmonton Mall yesterday and were quite impressed by the full scale replica of the Santa Maria and the World Water Park. When it’s 20 below in the dead of winter it must be a real treat to don the swimsuit and hang out at the ‘beach’.

We’re about as far from mall rats as you can get; shopping bores us to tears so we didn’t hang out very long. We did have a brew and a pizza, though. I was having pizza withdrawal twitches cuz we have only a microwave oven and can’t do pizza in the EDGE. The mall is said to contain 100 restaurants: most of them are the typical food court types but they have a broad selection of more upscale dining also.

I had intended to do the truck service at Walmart but that didn’t work: they said one guy quit and another called in sick so they couldn’t do squat. We’ll try again today on our way to the golf course. We found a par 3 that’s reasonably close to our campground, and the weather has improved.

Tomorrow we head out again, taking highway 43 towards Dawson Creek. We may overnight in Grande Prairie if we feel like a shorter drive is in order.

The front of the EDGE is plastered with bugs, looks like we came in second best in a rotten egg and mud ball fight. We’ve cleaned both rigs twice since we left AZ, will wash ‘em again soon. It gets to the point where you just can’t stand it anymore – even knowing darn well that a few hours later there’s going to be an another coating of grime and bug guts.
