We have a pair of friendly folks from NC next door in our campground. On t’other side is a pair from NM; he spent a good 2 hours screwing around with his tripod-mounted satellite dish, using some sort of sensor that emitted a loud irritating noise. It seems like a lot of RVers are TV addicts, although the addict percentage is likely about the same as for non-RVers. We like movies but don’t watch TV much even when we’re home; don’t have a TV in the EDGE.
So, I mutter, “Get a life for cripes sakes,” about the guy and his freakin TV. Trish responds with, “We should talk. We’re addicted to the internet.” And she’s right, you know. We - the collective we - have a tendency to take a ‘holier than thou’ stance about the habits of others when those habits differ than ours. Tsk, tsk.
We saw our first bear near the Buckinghorse River yesterday. It was an adult black bear that lumbered across the road far enough in front of us to be in no danger of collision.
It got up to 86 degrees yesterday, maybe a bit higher, definitely warmer than we expected for this area. We also didn’t expect last night’s thunderstorm, had to get up and close the windows. Despite the warm weather, we’ve been driving through permafrost areas, easily identifiable by the stunted evergreens, same as around Fairbanks.
We’ve now driven the equivalent of crossing the US, coast to coast – twice. Gas is getting spendy, cost $80 to fill the tank here, about double what we were paying in the US.
We hear ya on the tv. Rarely turn it on. Not even hooked up to cable or DISH. However, would be lost w/o the internet!!! Appears you're about 1/3 of the way thru your 15,000 mile journey. Hot here also, but not as bad as AZ!!! Continued safe travels to you 3!
