Today’s critters included several groups of buffalo, one griz and one hare. It was another beautiful drive, much of it along the Liard River; the river pix is from a high point along the Liard. The Liard flows easterly into the Fort Nelson, which flows easterly into the Peace, which, I strongly suspect, also flows into something. We don’t have a great map for tracing rivers. Long story short: we’ve not yet reached the continental divide.
We made it to the Yukon! There used to be a TV show back in the 50's, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. I don't recall any of the details of the show but I suspect he rode about on his horse, Yukon King, fighting evil and rescuing damsels in distress. And being a RCMP Mountie, his heart was probably pure. Yeah, I'm quite sure it was. But I'll bet cha Yukon King didn't gallop very fast in the winter; distressed damsels had to have more patience back then.
Watson Lake’s main attraction is the signpost forest: 68,000+ signs from all over the world. We thought about adding one but didn’t follow through. The pix include several place signs that certain blog readers will find meaningful: enlarge them and look closely. They also have the Northern Lights Centre which gives 6 laser light shows daily; we’ll attend a showing tonight.
We’re staying in a private RV park that is nothing more than a gravel parking lot. However, the price is right, it’s conveniently located such that we can see and do what we want in Watson Lake and it has good wifi. It’s a one-nighter anyway.
