Day 37. Morning. Charlie Lake Provincial Park, BC

Another Worlds’ Largest! At Beaver Lodge, AB, there’s a 15’ beaver that Trish discovered in The Milepost just in time for us to pull off the road for a photo op. Trish rushed into the RV to get her Beaver sweatshirt (she’s an OSU Beaver alumni) so I got a shot of both beavers in the same pix. That’s very rare, you know, beavers being rather shy critters. Big Beaver doesn’t actually claim to be the World’s Largest so there might be a larger one out there somewhere.

And yet another: the WL Golf Ball! That’s the claim of the Lone Wolf Golf Course in Taylor, BC. We didn’t stop to take a pix, sorry about that.

At Dawson Creek we checked email, got groceries and gas, washed the rigs and took pix of both Mile Zero monuments.

Idyllic describes this park and our campsite. There’re no hookups or wifi in the provincial parks but they do know how to design and build awesome campsites: nicely separated, spacious, flat, good fire rings, large and level tent pads, beautiful and sturdy picnic tables. And all this is surrounded by a thick stand of aspen, see pix. To top it off, the weather is perfect – and very welcome after several days of hot and sticky, followed by cool and clammy. This is such a nice change from our last 7 nights sandwiched into overpriced private parks that we’re staying here 2 nights.

We did a brisk 3-mile hike to/from Charlie Lake yesterday afternoon. We had intended to do a loop but misinterpreted the trail signs and consequently returned on the same trail, which ended up being a bit longer than anticipated. We needed the exercise anyway.
